The purpose of this lab manual is to introduce students to the science of the human body and how it functions.  It provides opportunities for students to perform hands-on activities that introduce the basic unit of life: the cell, and builds up to tissues, organs, organ systems, and organismal functions.  Scientific principles, structures and functions of the human body, and human health and disease are emphasized.

The Lab Exercises present concepts of microscopy, wet mount preparation, dissection, cardiac physiology, urinalysis, spinal reflexes and reaction, sensory activities, human genetics through Punnett Squares and Pedigree analysis, and DNA fingerprinting along with learning the structure and function of various body systems.

In addition to the Lab Exercises, the Lab Report sections in each chapter challenge students to recollect facts, answer thoughtful questions, and problem solve.
